  • Hi all,

Very welcome to episode 10 of the Ireland Chapter of PMI Podcast.

At the start of the year, we had hoped to do one per month starting in February and we have almost done that.

The numbers of listeners, month on month, have been on the rise, with more subscribers every month which is great. We’ve interviewed some great PM professionals and experts during the year…including the founder of the PMI James Snyder, the current President & CEO Mark Langley, a number of our committee members, and others from across the globe that are part of PMI chapters.

For me, it’s been an amazing opportunity and experience to get to talk PM with so many people….the common themes of career development, networking, trying out new things, and of course PDUs all come up….but giving back something to the profession is huge and very rewarding.

I was lucky enough to present at the Region 8 chapter event in Belgrade in November sharing a HOW TO guide on podcasting for your chapter. If we didn’t start this off, that would never have happened.

Before I introduce our guest for this months, just to say thank you for listening in over the year, for your input, feedback, ideas….all have been taken on board. We’re starting to plan for 2019 already….with more show, interviews, and more.

2019 is another huge year for the chapter with the National conference in Cork and then the PMI congress and LIM in Dublin in May.

If you’re interested in even helping out on the Podcast next year, have ideas for guests, how we could market it better or anything at all, you can connect in with me – just drop me a mail on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

So our guest this month’s episode had an interview with Brantlee Underhill.

Brantlee Underhill is the Director of Global chapters for PMI.

Brantlee talks about her 20 year journey with the PMI and the huge change that has happened during this time.

    She shares insights on:

    • Growth of PMI over the 20 years from 30k to 500k members
    • PMI 2.0 Strategy Transformation
    • Customer Centricity & Thinking Differently
    • Strategic Focus!
    • 2019 and the 50th Anniversary of PMI
    • Activities and Events for the coming year
    • Focusing on the PM Pro & the Next Gen PM
    • How to be digitally relevant in the new world
    • Focusing on outreach efforts to Colleges and Universities
    • PM Edge web based learning tool online
    • Brantlee and Project Management – How she got involved in this area
    • Brantlee and Podcast interests personally

Enjoy the interview & have a great Christmas & New Year. Back in early 2019

    Have a great day,

    Rob

  • Hi there,

Welcome to the Ireland Chapter PMI Podcast. EP12 & March 2019.

In this month’s show you’re going to hear content we recorded at our national conference back in 28th February in Fota Ireland resort, Cork. This was a total sell out and I have to say, it was the best PM event I’ve been at in the decade since I’ve been going to these. Now I’m sure you’re thinking, I’m biased. But this has been echoed back to me during the event and since.

It just seemed to work very well. You’d hope it was executed flawlessly as it’s a PM conference but still…and with Barry Murphy, from Après Match fame, the MC, there was certainly a lot of humour added to it.

We recorded a number of interviews on the day with the presenters and some attendees. We also recorded the presentation that Dermott Bannon gave along with the Interview I did on stage with Jim Snyder. More on these in coming episodes.

For today, I hope you enjoy the short interviews I did with both Dermot Bannon and Walter Bradley as well as 3 clips from some of the attendees on the day as I asked them, to align with the theme of the conference, how they’ve used Project Management to turn Ideas into Reality.

Enjoy the podcast & have a great week.

    Rob

  • Hi all,

Welcome to EP15 of PMI Ireland Chapter Podcast.

So last Month we held the PMI EMEA LIM & Congress in Dublin. Over 200 volunteers supported the events of LIM and Congress in Dublin and over 1000 attended.

It was an amazing week by all accounts. While I only had the fortune to be at LIM for 2 days, I was able to pack a lot in.

From attending sessions, to catching up with leaders of other chapters, and even was able to interview the new CEO and Chair of the Board.

Which by the way was last month’s episode and the most listened to of all our episodes since we began back in early 2018 (check it out for sure).

During the 2 days, I was also able to connect with a number of attendees at the LIM which included Members of PMI at HQ in Philadelphia and Chapter leaders from across the globe.

This episode (and next) will share these short interviews so you can get a better understanding of different parts of the PMI, what’s happening in other chapters and of course hear loud and clearly the value and benefits gained from volunteering for your local chapter.

We’ve also added a new member to our Ireland Chapter podcast crew as you’ll hear on this episode. Brantlee Underhill, Director of Chapters and Volunteers at PMI, a past guest on the show also, was my co-host for the day and she did an amazing job! Thank you Brantlee.

Ok. Enough from me. Let’s get into the interviews.

    1. Carol Martinez, Programs Admin for PMIEF and is focused on promoting social good and local schools. Delivery PM skills into the community. Check out https://pmief.org/
    2. Amara from the Pakistan Chapter shares her benefits from being a member of the PMI and the Pakistan Chapter. She shared her experience and meeting with the new CEO, Sunil.
    3. Rob O’Donohue, PMI Communication Director at the Ireland Chapter, talking about Podcast & how project management core skills have made this possible and continue to help keep the content is coming out.
    4. Miguel and Roletta from the Portugal Chapter share their LIM experience so far. The lessons learned from the presentations.

He talks about a session he did on sponsorship, networking, and sharing and learning new ideas. Pat also talks passionately about the power of Project Management as a discipline and how it’s been very key to the building and construction work in the area.

  • Hi everyone,

It's been a big few weeks for the PMI. It's celebrated it's 50th Birthday in early October and launched a new brand and logo.

I was lucky enough to connect up with Vindy Anderson, VP for Brand Management while at the LIM in Philadelphia just before the new brand was launched. Then, on the day of the launch, I did some roving mic interviews to get a pulse from the congress attendees on what their initial perspectives were of the new logo.

You can hear all of this in this month's episode which I hope you enjoy.
