Ireland Chapter Newsletter August | 2020 |
A message from the President, Jackie Glynn |
Welcome to the August Edition of the PMI Newsletter. I hope you and your families are safe and well and managed to get some much-needed downtime during the summer months. With Covid19 continuing to impact our social and economic activities myself and Committee members are dedicated to providing you, our members, with opportunities to connect and learn with your PM community in Ireland. |
We will continue to focus on delivering content through our popular weekly webinar series. As the future of work keeps evolving, the following are some interesting snippets to read:
Making space for innovation starts with hiring people willing to learn and adapt. ‘McKinsey reports that while 90 percent of executives believe the COVID-19 crisis will fundamentally change the way they do business over the next five years and 70 percent say it will create significant new opportunities for growth, only 21 percent say they have the expertise, resources and commitment to pursue that new growth successfully.’ In 2017, Brightline Initiative sponsored a research with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) to understand why many organisations fail to transform strategies into results. This article examines the crossover between strategy and implementation - with a view to helping you close the gap. In fact it offers 10 guiding principles for how we do just that! This is a two minute YouTube problem solver, that teaches us to mix and match tools, to ensure project delivery! I hope you find this material useful and that it gives you at least one nugget to make progress in your daily life. Remember: “Successful people demonstrate their resilience through their dedication to making progress every day, even if that progress is marginal.” Jonathan Mills, "How to Be Successful in Business and in Life". |

In order to better support our members, it is important to check in and receive feedback. This is perhaps all the more important in the post Covid landscape, to ensure that we have sufficiently adapted and remain a relevant resource in your lives and careers. |
|
So to get a fix on how we are doing we have crafted a quick survey which will take less than two minutes to complete.
Please click here to take the survey. |

This survey seeks to capture the immediate impact of Covid-19 on the nature and location of your work. It will also seek to understand what you need most from your local PMI Chapter. Once we have collected and reviewed the results we will share with you in an upcoming Newsletter alongside our plan to meet your needs! |
IMPORTANT UPDATE
Continued availability of the Online PMP® Exam
You can still take the PMP Exam online, from the comfort and safety of your home. If you have scheduled a test centre exam and would prefer to switch to online, you can do so. PMI will waive all rescheduling fees until Oct 2020.
